From the start line to the top of Merdeka 118, here’s what your climb looks like.
- Drink Stations
Located throughout the route to keep you hydrated.
- Medic Stations
Trained medics will be stationed throughout the building for your safety.

Follow the route to Merdeka 118 and enter the start zone.
Start Wave Waiting Zone
Wait for your turn before crossing the start line. Participants are released at short intervals to keep the climb smooth and controlled.
Stairwell Entry
From the start line, you’ll enter the stairwell and begin your climb.
Viewing Deck
Take in the view and capture the moment.
Descent
Return to the Race Village by lift.
Level 118 Finish
You’ve made it to the top.

Stronger with every step
Malaysia’s highest towerrunning event at Merdeka 118, the second tallest building in the world. The inaugural edition in 2025 welcomed thousands of participants who climbed 2,845 steps to Level 118, earning two Malaysia Book of Records titles. The challenge returns in 2026 – bigger, better, and higher than ever.
Anyone aged 13 and above can participate, provided that you are physically able. Whether you’re aiming for a personal best or climbing at your own pace, preparation is key.
Over 5,500 participants completed the climb in 2025 at their own pace. We strongly recommend preparing in advance, training appropriately, and ensuring you are medically fit before taking part.
